MOUNT KILIMANJARO 7 DAYS VIA LEMOSHO ROUTE

The Lemosho route is considered the most scenic trail on Kilimanjaro, granting panoramic vistas on various sides of the mountain. As one of the newer routes, Lemosho is a superb choice for your climb. It is our preferred route due to its ideal balance of low crowds, beautiful scenery and a high summit success rate.

Itinerary

Arrival DAY.

Arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel

Day 1

Londorossi Gate (7,380 ft/2250m) to Lemosho Glades (6,560 ft/ 2000m) to Mkubwa Camp (9,020 ft/2750m) 18 km, 4-5 hours Montane Forest

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be driving to Londorosi Gate with our guide by 4WD for the registration at the national park, then afterward driving back to the starting point and where we can start our hiking through rainforest crossing Lemosho Glades, where we will have a lunch a half on the way before reach Mti Mkubwa Camp where you rest, and get dinner.

Day 2

Mkubwa Camp (9,020 ft/2750m) to Shira Camp 2 (12,600 ft / 3840m)
8 hours Moorland

This is going to be the long trekking day, because we will cross through shira camp1 to shira camp 2. Our trekking passing through shira cathedral for acclimatization, and there you will have different views of geographical features around the shira cathedral and view of shira plateau. We proceed to shira 2 camp ; get rest before having a dinner.

Day 3

Shira Camp 2 (12,600 ft/3840m) to Lava Tower (15,190 ft/4600m) to Barranco Camp (12,960 ft/3950m) 7 hours Semi-Desert

After breakfast, you will hike east up a steepening path above the highest vegetation, after several hours, you walk through a rocky landscape to reach the prominent landmark called Lava Tower at 15,190 ft/4600m. This chunky remnant of Kilimanjaro earlier volcanic activity is several hundred feet high, and the trail passes right below it. For extra credit, the sure-footed can scramble to the top of the tower. After a lunch stop near Lava Tower, descend for 2 hours below the lower cliffs of the Western Breach and Breach Wall to Barranco Camp at 12,960 ft/3950m. There are numerous photo opportunities on this hike, especially if the walls are festooned with ice. Barranco Camp is in a valley below the Breach and Great Barranco Walls, which should provide you with a memorable sunset while you wait for your dinner. On this day, be careful to notice any signs of altitude sickness.

Day 4

Barranco Camp (12,960ft / 3,950m/) to Karanga Valley (13,780ft / 4,035m) 7 Kilometers

Leave Barranco Camp after breakfast starting climbing Barranco wall, nicknamed as Breakfast wall because after breakfast you have to climb the wall (not technical climbing). Climbing Barranco wall it takes 45 minutes to 1 hour. From there we hike up and down to Karanga camp 13780ft/4035m probably it will take 2 hours also is another short hiking day where we can get a hot lunch, rest and doing acclimatization by the time you will be given from guide

Day 5

Karanga Camp (/13,780ft / 4,035m) to Barafu Camp (15,100ft / 4,600m/) 6 kilometers

After breakfast, begin the hike to Barafu Camp. On the way to Barafu, you view several Kibo's glaciers, Mawenzi Peak as well as the junction that connects the descent route which is Mweka route. Although the trail to Barafu passes through alpine desert with little vegetation, Barafu Camp offers stunning views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Try to sleep as soon as you finish dinner as you will awake before midnight for your summit hike, and take all your warm gears for hiking to the summit.

Day 6

Barafu Camp (15,100ft /4,600m) to Uhuru Peak (19,340ft / 5,895m) to Mweka Camp (10,170ft / 3,100m) 18 kilometers

At the mid night we wake up at 11:30pm and get a light breakfast before we start hiking to the summit. We should start at 12:00am and it will take 5 hours to reach to the Stella point 14000ft/ 5730m which is at the rim of the crater. And from Stella point to UHURU Peak the highest peak of Kilimanjaro mountain which it will take one hour hiking through the rim of the crater. Approximately we will be at the Summit at the sunrise time 6:00am to 7:00am, where you will get time to enjoy and taking pictures. Afterward you will start to descent back to Barafu Camp where we will have lunch packing and keep descending to Mweka camp where you will have dinner and rest.

Day 7

Mweka Camp (10,170ft / 3,100m/) to Mweka Gate (4,920ft / 1500m/) 10 kilometers

After camping and overnight at Mweka camp you will start descent to Mweka gate crossing the rainforest again. Watch your steps because the trail can be slippery. Our vehicles will be waiting at the lower station of Mweka Gate to take you back to the hotel, where you can get a hot shower and small part time with your crews and guides.
